Ohio Wesleyan University
Overview
OWU Esports will field teams across several different titles and compete at the national level. In 2022-2023, students will compete at the varsity level in League of Legends, Overwatch, Valorant, Smash Brothers Ultimate, and Rocket League. Students will be able to join multiple teams as their time permits and will be held to the same high standards as other OWU athletes.
OWU Esports athletes will compete through the National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC). NECC collaborates with varsity esports programs at over 100 schools to lay the groundwork in areas such as competition and scholarship, eligibility, and the path to graduation.
Facilities
OWU has constructed a new top-of-the-line esports arena with 14 gaming PCs and consoles available for all students. The space also has viewing and lobby areas as well as a sponsored fridge. All computers and gaming systems are hardwired to provide a premier gaming experience.
Scholarships
OWU has scholarships available for students that are not only interested in competing in esports but in building a culture, and working as a team, to become one of the top programs in the Midwest.
Work-Study & Internships
The esports program has work-study and internship opportunities: helping with broadcasts and streams, graphic design, facility management, and operations.
